The 2007 Collingwood Elvis Festival continues to grow, attracting thousands and thousands of visitors from throughout Ontario, Canada, the United States and beyond. The 2007 Festival began with the new "Spend An Evening with Elvis" event at the Gayety Theatre in Downtown Collingwood on Thursday July 26th. This show set the stage for a record breaking weekend of music, performances, food, children's entertainment and family fun. Friday night's "Awesome Street Party and Tribute Artist Showcase" saw a record number of Elvis Tribute Artists perform on the main street stage. The performances began shortly after 1pm on Friday and the music didn't stop until Friday turned into Saturday. Early Saturday morning, thousands of people lined Collingwood's main street to witness the Tribute Artist Classic Car Parade. Returning Champion Robin Kelly from Edmonton Alberta said that no other festival, anywhere, can compare to the Collingwood Elvis Festival. Kelly said visiting Collingwood is like attending a family reunion, as he has made so many good friends here over the years. Australian Past Champion Dean Vegas was back as well. He also says the Collingwood Festival is the best in the world.

Collingwood Elvis Festival Receives $93,750 from Ministry of Tourism 4/26/2007
Collingwood, ON – Representatives of the Collingwood Elvis® Festival are thrilled to announce that under the Ministry of Tourism Celebrate Ontario Festival and Event Enhancement Initiative, the Ontario Government has allocated $75,000 for programming enhancements of the 2007 Collingwood Elvis Festival and $18,750 towards marketing the enhancements, for a total of $93,750 in funding.

Recognized as a signature event in the province of Ontario, the Collingwood Elvis Festival is one of a series of festivals and events which contribute to Ontario’s prosperity, culture and quality of life. From more than 350 applications, Collingwood’s largest festival was one of 57 Celebrate Ontario projects selected to share $4 million in provincial funding to help renew, revitalize and promote the province’s tourism industry. In an effort to create new experiences, attract greater audiences, and maintain the viability of this signature event, the proposed enhancements to the 2007 Collingwood Elvis® Festival include:

• Hosting an Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist Preliminary Round, a new competition component held in connection with Elvis Presley Enterprises.
• Increasing seating capacity to accommodate increased attendance from further reaching markets, by developing two regional performance venues.
• Recreating an authentic performance by Elvis Presley by presenting The Imperials and The Sweet Inspirations, award-winning musicians who recorded with Elvis Presley.

This announcement comes hot on the heels of the Collingwood Elvis Festival’s return from the 2006 Festivals & Events Ontario Conference earlier this year with their fifth Top 50 Festival award. Awarded annually by Festivals & Events Ontario, this distinction acknowledges the highest quality festivals held within the province. Ranked with the likes of the Canadian Tulip Festival, Grand Prix Toronto, and the Niagara Falls Winter Festival of Lights, it is an honour the Collingwood Elvis® Festival organizers have taken pride in since 2002.

The 13th Annual Collingwood Elvis Festival, the largest of its kind in the world, takes place Thursday, July 26 – Sunday, July 29, 2007 and this year honours the 30th anniversary of Elvis’ passing. Join friends, family, and fans in the heart of Historic Downtown Collingwood, 1-½ hours north of Toronto, Ontario, Canada, on the shores of beautiful Georgian Bay, for four days of unparalleled entertainment. Tickets are on sale now. Call toll free 1-866-444-1162 or save time and order online at

Huge crowds line the downtown streets of Collingwood early Saturday morning to enjoy the popular Collingwood Elvis Festival Tribute Artist Classic Car Parade. Many of the spectators and Tribute Artists could be excused if they looked a little tired as the Friday night party continued well into the early morning hours at many locations.

The Tribute Artist Classic Car Parade is a huge fan favourite and the 2007 version proved to be bigger and better than ever. Again, threats of rain passed by Collingwood as excellent weather greeted early morning visitors and Elvis Tribute Artists on Saturday, July 28th.

The day began even earlier than the 9am parade with a 7:30am pancake breakfast downtown. Following the parade, Elvis Tribute Artists moved on to various private venue performances and downtown Pine Street Stage competitions. This year, the historic Gayety Theatre in downtown Collingwood hosted more events including Saturday's Starshine Series from 9am to 4pm.

They came from all parts of Canada, the United States and around the world. Once again the Collingwood Elvis Festival has lived up to its billing as the largest festival of its kind in the world. "This really is the very best festival" said Collingwood Elvis Festival Past Champion Robin Kelly. "It's kind of like a home reunion every time I come to this featival. The people organizers and all of the people who come here every year make it an amazing festival" Kelly said. "It's like seeing old family and there's nothing else like it that I've ever experienced" said Kelly, who lives in Edmonton, Alberta. Kelly said he doesn't compete any longer. He enjoys performing the music of Elvis Presley more than competing for a title. "Collingwood is a beautiful town and I will forever be in dept to this festival because it gave me my start" Kelly said.

Thousands of visitors and over 140 Tribute Artists enjoyed the Friday Night Street Party, a portion of which was broadcast live on A Channel Television News. Rumours of rain and thunderstorms were just that ... rumours ... as the dark clouds moved away providing an excellent evening for enjoying the music in Collingwood's downtown.

This year the Collingwood Elvis Festival received $93,750.00 from the Ministry of Tourism. As a part of the Celebrate Ontario Festival and Event Enhancement, the Ministry of Tourism provided the Collingwood Festival with $75,000.00 for programming enhancements and $18,750.00 to help with Festival marketing.

1996 Second Annual “Canadian National Elvis Tribute & Convention Ball ” was held at the Collingwood Curling Club.
1997 Third Annual “Canadian Elvis Tribute & Convention was held at the Collingwood Curling Club. A theme was adopted. “The 20/40 Canadian Anniversary Salute. ”
1998 Fourth Annual Festival celebrating the theme “Elvis Comeback Special ‘98”. The Festival was now incorporated and renamed The Collingwood Elvis Festival Inc. and was owned on a 50% share by the Collingwood & District Chamber of Commerce and the Downtown Collingwood BIA.
1999 Fifth Annual Festival celebrated the theme “I’m Back ” and was held at the Collingwood Curling Club.
2000 Sixth Annual Collingwood Elvis Festival was celebrating the life & music of the “Artist of the Century” Forever Elvis theme. This would be the last year the event was held at the Collingwood Curling Club.
2001 Seventh Annual Collingwood Elvis Festival celebrated the 30th Anniversary of the “Taking Care of Business – In a Flash” theme and relocating our event to the Eddie Bush Memorial Arena. We earned recognition as one of the Top 50 Festivals in Ontario out of over 3,000 Festivals across the Province.
2002 The Eighth Annual Collingwood Elvis Festival adopted the theme “Collingwood Remembers….” In honour of the 25th Anniversary of Elvis’ passing and the 45th Anniversary of his appearances in Canada. The Festival also created a new Festival website. The Festival earned Top 50 Festival status for the second consecutive year, as well as winning awards for Best Poster, Best Program and Best Overall Promotional Campaign during the Festival & Events Ontario Annual Convention. The Festival earned nominations for Business Excellence, Customer Service Excellence & Employee of the Year through the local Chamber of Commerce Business Excellence Awards.
2003 The Ninth Annual Collingwood Elvis Festival saluted Elvis’ 30 #1 hits and also recreated the “Aloha from Hawaii” satellite concert. The Youth Division of the competition added a Junior & Senior champion. Our first Golf Tournament was added. This also marked the first year that the ownership changed hands. The Town of Collingwood took over the operations and ownership of the Festival and implemented a new Elvis Municipal Services Board. An event Marketing/Management team was also hired. Maclaren Momentum, a division of the internationally recognized Maclaren McCann came on board to assist in the expansion and marketing of the Festival. A new updated logo was created and we were named in the Top 50 Festivals category for the third consecutive year. We also earned nominations for Business Excellence, Customer Service Excellence and Employee of the Year, through the local Chamber of Commerce for the second year.
2004 This year we celebrated the 10TH ANNIVERSARY of the Collingwood Elvis Festival. More events & Arena Shows were added. We celebrated our past history with the return of our past Champions in our arena shows. We also featured our 2nd Annual Golf Tournament and a revised competition structure into an "Era Competition" featuring The Early Years/The Concert Vegas Years. We were once again named in the Top 50 Festivals category for the fourth consecutive year.
2005  Our theme “Elvis Lives” marked our 11th year celebrating the legendary Elvis Presley. Added to this year’s event list was our 1st Annual “Inspirational Elvis” Gospel Competition and our first Texas Hold ‘Em Poker Challenge. Both events were great successes. We were also honored to have two new friends join us direct from Elvis Presley Enterprises in Memphis, Tennessee who discovered the wonder of our event, our Town and our incredibly loyal fans and visitors.
